This past week I have been scouring thrift stores and rummage sales, looking for fabric for curtains and seat covers. I'm on a pretty tight budget. I don't necessarily have a set amount, but let's just say that with 2 kids in braces, one heading to college in the fall, one attending private school, and homeschool curriculum to buy for the other two, the less I spend, the better. ;)
I was originally hoping to go with more of a forest green color scheme and an outdoorsy theme, but after finding some awesome deals, I've decided to re-do the camper in BLUE.
My first find of the week was a pair of lovely light blue brocade drapes.
I have always loved brocade. I think that it has such an elegant, classic look, and so when my husband pointed out these beautiful brocade drapes at Goodwill - I had to have them!
They are nice and clean, and made of a very heavy weight fabric and....
They are HUGE!!!
(There are two panels and each is 3 1/2 yards long!)
I was thinking I could either use them to cover the seat cushions of the dinette,
or make light blocking curtains for both sides of the camper.
The best part...they were only $14 for the pair!
I was already so tickled with that great deal,
but then I just happened to stop by a rummage sale
and WAY in the back of the garage I spied these treasures....
A large roll of light blue upholstery fabric (for $6!)
AND 2 bags of ivory curtains with light blue trim!
(There are 10 panels - and they were $1 a piece!)
I'm thinking they will make really nice curtains for the end bunks. :)
Unfortunately, I have never been very talented at interior decorating, and so I'm really hoping that the blue brocade and the stripey blue upholstery fabric are going to be a good match. (?)
I think they will be.
and since I've only spent $30 so far, my budget is looking pretty good! :)
